Because... When arts fail, I gotta use my words.
Repurposful I've been cleaning recently and I discovered stacks of these! Virgin and glistening! They made me sad. Do you remember that Star Trek Next Generation episode, the one where an empathetic metamorph senses what males around her desire but has been held in stasis, only to be awoken prematurely? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Perfect_Mate . Spoiler alert: bittersweet ending. In contrast, my rediscovered CD’s seemed doomed to stasis. Never to emerge from cryo-tube oblivion. Lost in the inkyness of space. Or a landfill... Who burns discs nowadays? * But what if these discs could morph? Become something timely? And functional? And altogether new? Blank boxes and glue, Rhinestones and plastic. Layered with patience. It begs the question, what if obsolescence can be repurposed... * Fun fact:: The photos of the old people are (were?) my ancestors. The little boy with outrageously oversized bow tie was my maternal grandfather, The last photo is of his parents at age 92 and 85.
